Shed Acoustics

Determining room constant and average absorption coefficient

For this project, I took sound pressure measurements in an empty shed to determine the room constant and average absorption coefficient. Unsurprisingly, an empty shed had a low absorption coefficient of 0.17 and a room constant of 7.6. In order to determine these values, I took many measurements at various distances from a noise source which yielded estimates of the near field, far field, free field, and reverberant field.
