Nursery Acoustics
Measuring transmission loss through walls and door
For this project, I measured the acoustic transmission loss through walls and the door of a nursery. The main interior wall was shared with the main living space of the house, which caused concerns for noise while the baby slept. The noise reduction through the shared wall was 40.4 dBA. The noise reduction through the door with a significant air gap underneath was 10.1 dBA. However, by closing the air gap under the door, the noise reduction was increased to 23.0 dBA.
